DEM Foundation Hosts Inaugural Congressional Mongolian Lunar New Year Celebration

Washington, D.C. – February 16, 2024

– The DEM Foundation proudly announces the successful hosting of the Inaugural Congressional Mongolian Lunar New Year Celebration on February 16, 2024, at the esteemed Gold Room, Rayburn House Office Building. This auspicious event marked the beginning of what will now become an annual affair, celebrating the rich cultural heritage, economic and societal contribution and potentials of Mongolia and fostering unity and collaboration within the community.

The celebration garnered widespread support from esteemed dignitaries and government officials, underscoring the significance of this milestone. Among the notable attendees were CAPAC GD Nisha Ramachandran, Maryland Governor's First Deputy and Administrative Director of Governor's Commission on South Asian Affairs Christina Poy, and Scott Cunningham, Director of Administration and Member Services, US House of Representatives. Their presence served as a testament to the congressional, federal, and state government's unwavering support for the Mongolian community.

The event also featured distinguished keynote speaker, Washington DC Mayor's First Deputy and Director of Asian American Affairs, Mr. Ben de Guzman, whose inspiring address underscored the importance of cultural diversity and inclusivity in our society.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National ACE, marking a significant partnership aimed at cultivating Mongolian and minority small businesses. This collaboration exemplifies a commitment to fostering economic growth and empowerment within the community.

Representatives from the Mongolian community organizations, as well as cultural and business leaders, came together in a display of solidarity and unity, making the event a true epitome of harmony and collaboration.
